Karla Vargas Gastélum
Karla is a Mexican-American, queer, female film Writer/Director based in Los Angeles, California. Her commitment to shed light on diverse stories of underrepresented groups is evident in her films. Karla’s work depicts the struggles of: immigrant communities, latinx stories, LGBTQIA people, women, people with disabilities, racially disadvantaged groups, among others.
Sol is an undocumented Mexican immigrant trying to make a living in the U.S. for her and her disabled son, Badir. She is about to cross paths with two other people: a latino cop named Luis who is on his first day on the field and his trainer Damien: an older, disillusioned cop. Their encounter will have a permanent impact on each other’s lives.
